A bit late in posting the report from the Clear Lake Races last weekend but our Twisted Spokes brought home medals; money and prizes in a spectacular weekend of racing. Leif Lujan, Mark & Alijah Beatty, John Adamson, Richard Gilmore, Rob Haaland Nic Sabatke, Danny Warrington, Tom Klenske, Mike Foster and Kathleen Porter took part in all or some of the races - the Omnium - consisting of a Time Trial, Criterium and a Road Race.
The Criterium event happened to be The Iowa State Criterium Championships and the team did outstanding! On the Podium:
Alijah Beatty - Silver - Jr Women 13-14
Leif Lujan - Silver - Jr Men 17-18
Rob Haaland - Gold - The Cat 5 Iowa State Crit Champion!! Awesome!
John Adamson - Gold - Men's Master 60+ Iowa State Crit Champion. This makes for his 32nd Iowa State Championship Gold medal. An amazing racer.
Richard Gilmore - Bronze - Men's Master 60+
In what was some very tough competition in every event at Clear Lake the team had two Omnium Podium Finishers.

Congratulations to all the Twisted Spokes Racers for toeing the line at one of the biggest Iowa racing weekends of the year. Always well done by the North Iowa Spin folks and Tim Putnam's capable direction.

Excellent racing by all and wonderful to have so many team members putting it out there in fine form. Race on and remember your Entry Fees to the State Championship races are reimbursed to you from the Team. Please send mailing address to Kat via email to receive your check.
Remember the next Iowa State Championship races will be Sunday, August 5 - State TT; and Sunday, August 12 - State Road Race.

Very nice to have all the Spokes at Cleat Lake - and what a lode of medals we won in the State Championship Crit. One of the best moments for me was after the Masters road race when we were swapping stories and tellin lies I heard one of my competitors actually say- when I saw all of your teammates near the end of the race swarming to the front I knew it was getting serious.
