Week-end Group Ride #2

Back at it again taking advantage of the nice warm temperatures reaching into the 40s! With some sun and wind out of the SE decided to head west. Starting out from Cup of Joe - Pete, Doug E. John, Paul, Carey, Ron and Kat.

Heading west on 4th street - melting in progress.

Practicing more shots over the shoulder - Carey and Paul.

Pete, Carey, Doug and Ron here. Hit 27th Street heading west to T55. On the TT route. Nice and dry pavement - none of that gravel crap from yesterday - although some of us wanted it bad. Nice tailwind going out - hoping for a wind shift for the ride back home.
Kat bringing Paul back to the group - just in time for her to take the sprint and win at the stop ahead sign at T55.

Big snow piles out here - at 27th & T55. Decided to head over to Stout and west to Hwy 14. Ron's program today was an easy 29 mile spin - he was done here and headed back home.

Coming back into Stout after reaching Hwy 14. Decided to backtrack instead of risking life and limb on the Hwy. Doug travels these roads and said the snow piled up on the shoulders didn't leave much room for both bikes and cars on the road.

Great having Carey on her first outdoor ride for 2008 - finally got warm enough. She is working on building big base for her 1200km Brevet in the Cascades this year.
Heading south the Dike - John and Kat enjoying a laugh - can't quite remember about what - perhaps how we look in these pictures when they are posted. John - mentioning something about appearances?? Looking Good?

Reaching Ridgeway avenue turning east towards Dike. No wind change yet, so headwind all the way. Took turns rotating and Paul learned about the beauty of the draft. Pete in great form again on his mountain bike.

A short refuel stop at the Kwik Star in Dike - what are they looking at?
AH HA - looking at Kathleen checking for the Pork products - so many things to choose from and not a single pork fritter - perhaps next time. Doug going for the healthy stuff - energy bar or something

Leaving Dike folks needed to get back home - Paul, Pete and Doug opted for the Diagonal back to CF, while John and Kat took Carey home to Waterloo. A great day - a bonus given the weather forecast - 4 hours in the saddle for the day. Until next time -

  1. Two really fine days of riding. Kat you've got that over the shoulder thing down - Kerkove got nothing on you. It's good to get out this early in the year - and two days in a row for over 100 miles. This is the time to get out and ride - too often in May you hear "I'm just not ready..."
    Great reporting, KAT.
