Iowa Games RR

Last Sunday was the rescheduled Iowa Games Road Race with BikeTech racers Mike Johnson in the midst of the 2 lap starters. A smaller field in Mike's group than past years but a good showing with tandem teams in the mix. Nice to see the race officials - our very own Keith Reynolds (How was Mt. Evans?) and Richard Gilmore - thank you both!

Got this picture of Mike in the main group behind the leaders - looking Good Mike. He had a great race with the legs feeling good after his successful Leadville race the previous week-end.

John, Kat and Rob S., during the warm-up for their 1 lap race.

The one lap field consisted of the solo men and women with about 60+riders total all starting together on the 25 mile course. The course includes a couple of significant downhills and climbs - which was nothing for John in fine form after his successful Leadville 10th the previous Saturday. He set the pace and led the group into the first major climb - Pilot Mound. The field split apart after that with John commanding the lead group of 20 or so all the way to the finish for a 4th place finish overall and Gold in his category. Rob finished 18th overall I believe. Kat was first woman to finish, 25th overall and Gold in her category.

Kat Sporting the heavy metalMike and Amy with Mike's mom, sister and nephews in the background. A great finish by Mike Way to go and Looking Good Sweet Amy!

  1. Kat - great posting and pictures. And what a job racing - FIRST woman overall and certainly your age group win.
    Bring on the Cheq.
