Sunday gravel with Scott, Robert, Kat, John and Pete taking advantage of the really nice fall weather we've been having here in Iowa.
SE winds so the route was a sweet one - through GW State park to Wagner road then 'bring on the gravel' heading east on Big Rock road - kept going east turning south on Osage. Had to make another turn east then south to towards Raymond - then back to Waterloo on Lafayette.

Scott - prepared and dressed for cold weather - better to be safe than sorry - it is not fun to be cold - plenty of time for that. Temps topped out in the 70's - who knew on Nov. 2nd. A gift.

Robert in shorts (tuff guy points) AND sporting the socks that his daughter Sally insisted that he wear - to celebrate the season. If you click in to see closer - notice the sparkle detail. Those are some stylin' socks!
Pete - Marathon Pete - congratulations on a great finish at the Twin Cities Marathon last month and so good to have you join us once again on gravel. Really nice to get to catch up and make some racing plans - Leadville is in his future.

Not one to let footwear/legwear go unanswered - Kat got her stitches out on Friday sported some extra protection of the area - still a risk of the wound pulling apart. Good to stay On the bike.

looks like you guys had a great ride and some awesome eats!!!! i love mexican. the real deal. la placita on the other end of 4th is pretty good, too!
ReplyDeletethe state course was a tough one for me. lots of climbing in grass and kinda rough in spots. it was great! we got there in time to watch mike and adam in the cat 4 race. sweet! landon was an inspiration to me out on the course. the man is a machine! he rode his race and ended up in the medals. congrats to landon! there was apparently some confusion at registration which initially had steve and carl in the 4's, though they weren't racing 4's. steve ended up in 3rd place in the 3's and jackal met his goal of finishing in the top half of the "big boy's" race. good on all of you guys! me? well, on the results page they have me listed as a 4, although i raced masters and took my normal spot of dfl. barring death or extreme misfortune, i'll always finish :) they didn't list adam at all, though i suspect there were too many buchanans at the race and they got confused. we'll get that straightened out :) it was a great race and i think we all had a good time!
oops! the "official" results put steve in 2nd! congrats!
ReplyDeleteBlue - good on ya. It is a real pleasure to see you our there racing and having a good time. AND, having you wear the Red is just priceless.
