GRAVEL RACING IN MITCHLEVILLE

LET ME TELL YOU - we had some excellent racing in the hills around the Mitchelville area. The course was fast and very hilly - at least for us flatlanders. We started out on some very steep long paved roads that broke up the field on the first of two laps and continued on for 30 miles of gravel roads that were challenging enough to keep things spread out for the entire race. Most of the race we were on our own or in groups of 2 or 3. You can't beat racing your bike and it was an opportunity to test our early season fitness - we all passed with flying colors. It was a great hard day of racing.
Bike Tech Racing was well represented with Pete Berendzen. Kathleen Porter, Landon Beachy, Richard Gilmore, John Adamson, and missing from the picture is Mike Johnson.

We had some very good racing - except for Richard - who was last seen riding backward on the course in the middle of nowhere.... Needing some more miles???

Listed below are some comments and results - provided by the good folks at All Nice Yards.
On March 22 we are going to try it again.
John

Thanks to everyone who came out for the second running today. Weather was
much more agreeable, and the gravel was more All9Yards style than it was
last week. Other than a few short stretches of fresh rock, the gravel was
just fast, dirty pavement. Gilmore did not 'officially' finish the race
because he came by the start finish after everyone had headed back to the
cars, and then proceeded to do another lap of a course of his own making.
So in the end he one upped everyone who race by putting in the most
distance of anyone.
